Denmark’s Liberation May 5, 1945
Today, it is 70 years ago that Denmark was liberated from the German occupation. The day was celebrated yesterday at a ceremony at Mindelunden in Hellerup where H.M. The Queen participated and Premier Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt was speaking. Later in the day H.R.H. Prince Joachim held the memorial speech at Skamlingsbanken in Sjølund.
The parliament had a memorial today in Folketinget that included resistance people, WWII sailors and Danes who fought with the Allied during WWII.
