Copenhagen Airport celebrating its 90th birthday

The Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is celebrating its 90th birthday today. The airport was inaugurated 20th April 1925 and was one of the first civil airports in the world. After World War II it was one of the most modern airports in Europe since it had not been bombed.

In 2013 the airport handled a new record of more than 25 million passengers and more than 250,000 landings and takeoffs. In 2014 CPH announced plans to increase capacity to 40 million passengers per year.

According to World Airport Awards, Copenhagen Airport has the following rankings:

  • 2nd Best Airport in the 20-30mill passenger class
  • 3rd Best Airport Statt in Europe
  • 6th Best Airport in Europe
  • 8th Best Airport Leisure Amenities
  • 8th Best International Transit Airport in the World
  • 9th Best Airport Dining in the World.
